ST. JAMES’ CHURCH, NORTON
– CHOIR and MUSIC
Choral
music has always been a strong feature of St James’
The
church has a traditional, robed Anglican choir made up of boys and adults.
The choir
provides music for two sung services each week (with the exception of Sunday
mornings when there is a Parade Service).
This includes sung Mass on the 1st, 3rd and 4th
Sunday each month and a traditional, sung Evensong at 6.15 pm every Sunday
evening.
A motet or anthem, drawn from the choir’s extensive repertoire, is normally
performed at every service. From time
to time, the choir
sings a full Choral Evensong to special settings of the Canticles and
Responses.
Our
accomplished Organist and Choir Master, Peter Hackett, also performs an organ
voluntary at each service.
If you
enjoy choral music and a traditional sung evensong, which relatively few
churches now routinely offer, why not join us
on a Sunday evening at 6.15pm?
